After finding the remains of an alien ship in 1977 by video drone, the nations of Earth are thrusted into working together for the protection of humanity.
Everything is ancient history with alien contact, until 2179, when Jayne Flynn is made aware of a strange signal, giving proof that alien life is still out there, and possibly at large.
Will the alien forces be friendly, or will they end humanity as we know it?
Despite being set in space for the most of the book, the humanity on show in Hell Space is almost anthropologic, with humanities desperation front and centre, in its relatively small page count we get intrigue, horror, politics and more.
A massive selling point for Hell Space, is that it really doesn’t gloss over world building, the Trine ships feel lived in, despite their expansive size, and the twists and turns feel earned as we learn along with mankind what has been happening in the gulf of space whilst we’ve been focusing on the wrong places entirely.
